This Illustration I have affectionately named "Wendy's Dog". It depicts a moment in time, a snapshot of happenings in a little seaside town we know and love as Port Lincoln /Galinyala. Behind the seafood frontier neon lights, shark & seal swimming, tuna, koala & kangaroo feeding, wooden maze conquering, maritime museuming, Makybe Diva (RIP) patting, old Mill & Winterhill scaling.... is the hustle and bustle of everyday people, doing their every day things.
My boys would love a trip to Port Lincoln, for them the 2.5 hour drive would mean a guaranteed take away food of their choice & a trip to Kmart!
For a hot while there it was the buttery hotdog & salty chippies from Wendy's that were the common request (from two restless boys who had tagged behind me and all my jobs from that morning).
It was a quick and often lineless wait for food, then we'd walk toward the beach, sit under the huge pine trees on the lawn, soaking in our surroundings & feast on our hot lunch.
Boys were focused, dodging sauce drips, and keeping a close eye on the curious seagulls hoping they'd share.
I would admire this, the ocean view, as well as the beautiful London Plane trees that in any season look spectacular. For a few peaceful minutes (until the food was consumed) there was calm, a little breather from the manic amount of jobs we needed to complete before the sunset leg back home before dark... (farm life huh!)
The pastel hues of this work plus the luxurious feel of the hahnemuhle Agave paper makes this illustration pop. Bring a little piece of animated Port Lincoln into your space!
